Turn off your lizard brain this year.
Remember that you’re not your thoughts.
You’re not your ideas.
You’re not your bad days.
You’re not your anxieties and fears.
I run a company in London, build info products, and invest. I have the same thoughts every night before going to bed. Who the hell am I to be telling other people what to do? Why would anyone listen to me? What can I give that is so special? I’m just a bad writer.
Imposter syndrome easily hinders creative work.
The trick is not letting your lizard brain dictate what you do with your life. Imposter syndrome will probably never go away. But you can learn to live with your fears and self-doubts like they’re background noise from a radio in a passing car.
Just do it. Create sacred time for work and creativity, and produce like no one is watching. Then ship, ship as much and as far, and as much stuff you can.
Then, let your imposter filled brain run wild later on when it can’t do much damage.
Finally, find the silver lining in your anxieties.
Imposter syndrome is often a sign of success!
